How My Health Protected Started
My Health Protected was set up in 2016 by Patrick Baxter. Before that, Patrick spent six years at AXA Health, and he now has around 16 years’ experience in UK private medical insurance. Working inside an insurer showed him how much depends on the detail: how a policy is underwritten, how a claim is assessed and how a renewal is priced. Those are the things clients rarely see until they need to.
The firm was built to sit on the client’s side of that process. We are not tied to any insurer, and we compare cover from Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality, WPA, The Exeter and others. Our advice is free to you. If you take out a policy through us, the insurer pays us a commission; we do not add a separate broker fee.
Over the past ten years the business has grown into a small specialist team. Sadie Sansford joined more than seven years ago and leads our work with employers and SME schemes. Louis Nichols leads the broking team, Riley Walia advises as a senior broker, and Sarah looks after appointments and day-to-day client care. We are based at Putney Business Centre in south-west London and support clients across the UK.
Most of our work is with individuals and families, alongside businesses that want a private medical insurance scheme for their staff. We also advise on income protection and life insurance. What has not changed since 2016 is the model: a named adviser, comparison across leading UK health insurers, and a relationship that continues through claims and renewals rather than ending when the policy starts.
